2018 Peru - Day 1

IMG 5509

Our flight left Toronto on pretty much on schedule. It was moved up to 4:40pm from 5:50pm, and I think we were boarded by about 4:55pm. I knew we were flying Air Canada, but when I found out the flight was AC Rouge I was a bit concerned - I haven’t heard many good things about it. The flight is full. Not much leg room. The Air Canada entertainment system won’t work on my laptop because it requires Flash Player, and the installer on their website is corrupt and won’t install it. Argh.

The flight to Lima will be about eight hours, and then we have a few hours wait until our connecting flight to Piura That means arriving in Lima at about 1am.

I may have mentioned this in a previous post, but I can’t seem to fall asleep on a plane. Andrea is sawing logs in about three minutes. She’s asleep right now, and I am completely wired. I’ve had dinner (using the term loosely - it was on a plate, I used cutlery, so it fits the definition of dinner loosely), watched a movie, had a sip (or two) of scotch (purely for medicinal purposes), listened to Gord’s Downie’s masterpiece “Introduce Yerself” and I am still fully, completely awake. I want to sleep to lessen the kick in the head this red-eye flight is going to be. It’s 11:00pm. Two hours to go.
